In Tampere, Vernova’s teams contribute to the development and delivery of Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) and STATCOM solutions, which play an important role in improving power system stability, voltage control, and grid performance. These technologies are essential for integrating renewable energy, increasing transmission efficiency, and supporting the evolving needs of modern power systems.
GE Vernova is looking for MEDIUM VOLTAGE DESIGN ENGINEER in FACTS/STATCOM electromechanical team in Tampere Finland.
The Medium Voltage Design Engineer will be responsible for the selection, specification, and integration of MV equipment used in STATCOM projects. The work includes preparing and reviewing SLDs, technical specifications, RFQs, calculations, drawings, and supplier documentation. The engineer will also coordinate technical interfaces and support supplier evaluations, design reviews, project execution, and site-related activities.
Must-have skills and experience:
· Strong electrical substation design experience
· Experience with MV equipment such as reactors, resistors, capacitors/capacitor banks, busbars, pre-charge circuits, surge arresters, insulators, transformers, circuit breakers, and disconnectors
· Ability to prepare and review SLDs, specifications, RFQs, calculations, drawings, and supplier documentation
Good-to-have skills and experience:
· FACTS, STATCOM, or HVDC project experience
· Understanding of valve and cooling system interfaces
· Supplier technical evaluation and equipment integration experience
Education:
• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
Preferred background:
· Power transmission, substation, FACTS, HVDC, renewable energy, EPC, or industrial electrical engineering companies
Seniority:
• Senior or Lead Engineer
• 8+ years of relevant experience
Language:
• Fluent English
Location: Tampere on-site
Start: August
Duration: 6 months to start, most like to be extended
